Hatari Times International is the US/English edition of our quarterly magazine (currently published in 3 different languages, i.e. US/English, German and French), which is exclusively devoted to Africa - the mysterious dark continent, African hunting & adventure, African history and wildlife conservation and last but not least fascinating big bore rifles and cartridges. Hatari Times is primarily a hunting magazine with entertaining stylish stories packed with lots of most valuable information.
What makes Hatari Times so different from other publications is the fact that all articles are based
on first hand experiences. We do not buy material from commercial "outdoor-writers” or "gun-writers” since our philosophy is to produce a thoroughly interesting magazine with a solid background of true knowledge written by experienced hunters for avid African hunters.
Each issue is focused on a specific area or country and I physically visit and hunt the places featured in Hatari Times before we go to press, spending four months and more out in the African bush annually, since there is no substitute for up-date first hand experiences. Due to this fact we cannot publish Hatari Times at pre-fixed dates but only go to press when a fresh research on the focus area is completed. Hatari Times therefore appears at irregular intervals, depending on my own travel schedules. However, we believe that good things do not come easy and we take the necessary time for each issue published. I personally grew tired of thick and glossy magazines with poor contents. The volume of each edition of Hatari Times is limited to 60 pages, but these pages comprise of no-nonsense first class articles. Another part of our policy is not to buy fancy illustrations from commercial agencies since we believe that the authenticity of the illustrations is far more important than printing a perfect picture, which has little or no relationship to the manuscript.
We purposely do not want to be too commercial and superficial as so many other publications. This is why we try to limit advertising in Hatari Times as far as economical pressures allow and we do not accept any commitments to advertisers, which might bias our editorial view. Thus we are proud of the fact that virtually no other publication on the market matches Hatari Times on behalf of credibility.
Since I am personally an old school European riflemaker, specialized in big bore rifles and ammunition and educated in Ferlach/Austria, all gun articles featured in Hatari Times are the results of thoroughly executed research and my own educational background.
In this world of vastly growing and thoroughly aggressive anti-hunting organizations, which readily take on every chance to indoctrinate the public, I believe that ethical hunting is absolutely imperative. I am personally not shy to write occasionally about my own failures, such as wounded and lost game, since that simply happens and human failure is sometimes the straightforward truth. However, I always try to my best ability to hunt ethically and with a deeply rooted responsibility. Due to the ever shrinking wilderness I also believe that we should hunt the African game fields in high esteem of the fabulous experience provided by the splendid nature and do not over-emphasize record book figures. I always found bagging a particularly old specimen more rewarding than shooting coincidentally a high scoring trophy.
Regular subscribers are welcomed to contact me if they have questions on behalf of hunting or firearms, bearing in mind that I am quite often out in the bush for several weeks. However, any inquires by non-subscribers will be invariably ignored and automatically deleted.
Hatari Times is exclusively available through subscriptions directly from the publisher and is not sold on newsstands. |
